Past Projects : 2004 - 2007 : Embrace Open Space

The Embrace Open Space public service campaign, led by the McKnight Foundation, seeks to encourage Twin Cities residents to be as proactive as early civic leaders. The web site www.embraceopenspace.org is a new focal point for people and organizations that are interested in identifying and protecting significant natural treasures, both locally and regionally.

As one of partners in the campaign, the Design Center offers the perspective gained from working on urban design projects with neighborhoods and cities across the region. Often the environment and open spaces are key assets that cities want to preserve and enhance, while maintaining a healthy and diverse economy. This page highlights links to projects that successfully include open space as a key feature of community development plans.
